“开学”英语怎么说?
可不是“open school”，别再说错了!
一、“开学”英语怎么说?
把“开学”翻译为open school，
是典型中式思维直译成英语。
不过open school英语中也有出现，
只不过它指的是“开放的学校”，
这里 open 是形容词，表示“开放的”。
开学的“开”其实是“开始”的意思，
很多人会想到 start 和 begin。
school starts 确实可以表示“开学”，
(不过它还有“开始上课”的意思);
另外，school begins 也表示“开学”。

二、“学期”semester和term的却别
semester和term都可以表示“学期”，
但两者的学期划分是不同的。
semester是双学期制，包括：

term是三学期制，包括：

the summer term 夏季学期
the fall term 秋季学期
我国的学校基本都是两学期制semester，
美国以semester为主，英国则以term为主。
三、“公/私立学校”英语怎么说?

在美国，“公立学校”可以说public school，
public在这里表示 “公用的”，
指public fund(公共资金)支持的学校。
但是在英国，public school却不是“公立学校”，
public在这里表示“入学资格公用”，
也就是能付得起钱就能进，相当于“私立学校”。
英国的“公立学校”，一般用：
state schools或者comprehensives。
例句：
He transferred from the public school to the center.
他从公立学校转学到了中心。
Most adults believe state schools are underfunded.
大多数成年人都认为公立学校经费不足。
